Setting new year intentions can be a powerful tool for achieving our goals and manifesting. Why not combine your intentions and amplify them with a crystal grid?
Whether you consider the new year to start in January, Chinese New Year or the Spring Equinox, you can still set your goals for the next 12 months.
Setting Clear Intentions
Spend some time to really think about what you want to achieve within a year. Here are some things to ask yourself:
What do I want to achieve this year?
Where do I want to visit?
What are my work and business goals?
Are there any new habits I want to adopt?
What will I have to do to reach my goals?
Tips For Intention Setting
Write these down in a positive tone and similar to an affirmation. Something like “I will have a successful online business working from home“.
Be realistic and specific, yet avoid limiting your goals. Allow some room for the Universe to deliver something better than you expected. Like “My house will sell with ease“.
Come up with a list of the main and most important goals and intentions which you want to achieve within a year. Avoid overwhelming yourself by picking 8 – 12 things. We will revisit this list once we set up your grid.
TIP: I highly recommend using a holistic goal planner to formulate intentions, create a plan of action and commit to taking consistent steps towards these goals. I have been using InnerGuide Planners for years now. You can learn more HERE (affiliate).
How A Crystal Grid Can Help
Crystal Grids combine the power of crystals with sacred geometry to help support your intentions with positive energy. A crystal grid also acts as a mental reminder both consciously and subconsciously of our goals.
Crystal grids are a manifesting tool like many others. It will be you that needs to take the action and maintain a positive mindset.
My New Year Intentions Crystal Grid uses quite a few crystals as this grid needs to cover many areas of your life. You do not need all the same crystals as I have used, I will provide substitute stones as always.
Sacred Geometry Meanings
As always everything I incorporate into my grids has meaning and a purpose behind it. For this crystal grid, I have combined two symbols which will be the framework for your crystals.
The Dodecagram is a 12 pointed star that connects you with the 12 months of the year, the zodiac and your life path.
The Solar Cross represents the four seasons, the Solar year and opens the door for new opportunities. For more detail on sacred geometry meanings please see my bestselling book Crystal Grids Power.
You Will Need:
1 Medium or Large Clear Quartz
Clear Quartz brings clarity, focus and amplifies the grid. I’ve used a Standing Crystals Point, also known as a Tower. You can also use a Crystal Pyramid, Sphere, Generator Point, Star of David or Merkaba.
4 Aragonite Crystals
Orange/Brown Aragonite helps you overcome obstacles and paves the way for breakthroughs. I’ve used little Starburst Clusters but you can use Tumble Stones or other forms. This stone can be substituted for Mahogany Obsidian, Tourmalinated Quartz (black) or Preseli Bluestone.
4 Celestite Tumble Stones
Celestite helps navigate new chapters in your life. You can use Tumble Stones or other forms. This crystal can be substituted with Amazonite, Moonstone or Clear Quartz.
3 Tiger’s Eye Tumble Stones
Tiger’s Eye instils self-confidence and empowerment. You can use Tumble Stones or other forms. This stone can be substituted with Carnelian, Citrine or Clear Quartz.
3 Moss Agate Tumble Stones
Moss Agate brings prosperity and supports growth. You can use Tumble Stones or other forms. This stone can be substituted with Green Jade, Green Aventurine or Clear Quartz.
3 Bronzite Tumble Stones
Bronzite increases your determination. You can use Tumble Stones or other forms. This stone can be substituted with Tiger’s Iron, Blue Apatite or Clear Quartz.
3 Pyrite Tumble Stones
Pyrite attracts success and prosperity. I’ve used Druzy Tumble Stones but you can use regular ones or another form. This stone can be substituted with Citrine or Clear Quartz.
Using a Crystal Grid Template
I have a created a FREE printable Crystal Grid Template that you can download and print yourself if you want. You don’t need to sign up for anything. Just click the link below to download the PDF file. You can then print it out on some paper or card.
TIP: You could trace the lines with a gold pen.
Alternatively, you can use a similar grid base or cloth (Dodecagram, Zodiac or Cross). Please note you do not have to use the printable or any grid base for this crystal grid. It can also be made straight on to any flat surface but it is much easier with a template.

Simple Crystal Grid Activation
If you already know how to activate a Crystal Grid, feel free to use your prefered method. Otherwise, to keep things nice and easy, I am going to show you a really simple method to activate the grid which does not use an Activation Crystal Wand . Activation programs or charges the crystals with your intention, so they can begin to do their work for you.
Before you begin, write a copy of the list of your top new year intentions on a piece of paper. Then fold the paper up twice so it will fit under the central stone.
How To Activate Your New Year Crystal Grid:
1. Hold all your cleansed crystals and the note in your hands (or work in batches).
2. Close your eyes and take three deep breaths.
3. Raise your crystals up in front of your Third Eye Chakra (brow area).
4. Focus on your desired intention, use visualisation and emotion. Say to yourself or out loud a statement of your intention. For example with a new year intentions grid, you could say: “I program this crystal grid to support me in achieving and manifesting my goals in (state year)”.
5. Lastly, arrange your crystals into position (see below).
Setting Up Your Crystal Grid:
Now that your crystals are programmed and charged with your intentions, all you have to do is arrange them. Use a flat surface that will not be easily disturbed. Please see the diagram above.
(1) The Clear Quartz goes into the centre, on top of your folded note.
(2) Then the four Aragonite crystals can be placed around it, forming a cross.
(3) Next, the four Celestite crystals can be placed around these, forming the arms of the cross.
(4) Now the three Tiger’s Eye crystals form a triangle around the outer edges.
(5) Next, the three Moss Agate crystals form another triangle.
(6) Then the three Pyrite crystals form another triangle.
(7) Lastly, the three Bronzite crystals form the final triangle.
Afterwards…
Your New Year Crystal Grid will be left in place until the end of the year. You can write a new list of intentions and reactivate the grid again after that if you wish.
When you’re finished with your New Year Crystal Grid, remove the crystals and cleanse them. Remember to deactivate your grid before using the crystals for anything else. See my article on Deactivating Your Crystal Grid for more info.

I am using my crystal tower on another grid. as my center stone. Can I use an amethyst sphere or selenite sphere for the center stone on this grid?
I’m not sure either stone is really doing a similar thing to the Quartz. Tiger’s Eye can be used for focus but replace the other Tiger’s Eye tumbles with clear Quartz because you need the amplification power. Otherwise, I would try to get another Quartz central stone if you can.
Hi Ethan thanks for the great post. I was wondering in what instances would crystal points be pointing inwatds when using a grid?
Some people use inward pointing crystal points to bring things in but for Regular Crystal grids like these, I personally don’t work like this. I want the energy or intention to leave the grid to go out into the Universe and/or go to the source needed which is outside my grid. If you are making a crystal grid on a person (aka Body Crystal Grid or layout) then that is different. Same with a Location Crystal Grid, around your home. In those instances inward pointing crystal points can bring energies in or attract something.
When should the New Year’s Grid be placed and activated?
There are not fixed dates. Anytime during the start of the new year, depending when you consider the new year to start or shortly afterwards.

I usually start the New Year on the 1st but I will need to get all the crystals I need for this grid. Can I start my new year when I have all the supplies?
When you say that the New Year grid stays in place until the end of the year, do you mean it stays in place until the end of 2019?
Yes, if this is the year you made it for. The grid is to support yourt itentions for the current year /next 12 months of any year you make it.
If I normally start the New Year on Jan 1st but I don’t have all the crystals for the grid-can I get the crystals and then do the grid later (sometime in January)?
Yes, the whole of January is still the beginning of the year.
Hello Ethan, I bought your book about six months ago and have made a number of grids. I am pretty satisfied how things have worked out. Now on this New Year grid I feel stumped. I really want to include a health and safety element. 2018 was rather devastating for us. My family is waiting to see what I create. Suggestions much appreciated
Thanks for getting the book. Quartz is all-purpose and considered the Master Healer. Tiger’s Eye is a protection stone too. Alternatively, add or replace crystals associated with healing or protection based on the healing and protection grids in my book. Or any crystals you know have these properties. Just add these intentions into your grid note and activation. Good luck and health to you.

I just set up my Crystal Grid. It’s all charged and in a place that I can see it every day. I’m worried though as I will be moving in about 6 months. Will moving interrupt my grid?
If you mean me no, crystal grids can be moved or transported with no problems. Just cleanse it at the new place.
What a beautiful grid! I’ve an odd question for you about the bronzite. I’m assuming it might be a source of bronze, or is it based on the color? I do chain maille and wondered if a small grouping of bronze jump rings would work in place of the crystal….

Hi Laurel, I believe the name comes from the colour. Bronze does not occur in nature and is really a mix of other metals including Copper. I would try to use one of the three substitute crystals I have suggested for Bronzite in the article. Alternitively find other crystals used for determination from other sources.

Hi, Thank you for all the information and techniques you provide! I was wondering, is it ok to have multiple (2 or more) crystal grids working on the same intention, such as prosperity and abundance At the same time? If so,with different stones and formations or identical?
You could do that if you wanted but I would look for a single crystal grid that is for the intention first. I consider prosperity and abundance the same type of grid. People have multiple grids going at the same time for different things, there is no direct relation to eachother or rules in terms of geometry etc.
