Crystals for the Full Moon! These lunar stones are associated with the most powerful phase of the Moon. They anchor and amplify its energy for your life, spiritual work or Full Moon rituals…
The Full Moon Phase
The Full Moon occurs around once every 29 days. A true Full Moon is when it’s 100% full and appears as a perfect circle in the sky. You could see this as when the Moon’s energy is at maximum strength. But you don’t need to see the Full Moon to feel the effects.

Working With The Full Moon
You can work with the Full Moon in a variety of ways. Many people look at it as an all-purpose day for enhancing all spiritual work. It can be cleansing or add power to what you do. Many see the Full Moon as a climax in the lunar cycle which represents completion.
TIP: The Astrologer, Yasmin Boland has a very comprehensive holistic guide to working with all the phases of the Moon in relation to your Sun sign in her book Moonology.

Checking Full Moon Times
You may notice that some printed calendars show the Full Moon days and even times but make sure the times are correct for your country. If you want to be precise, check a good Moon app or website like Deluxe Moon. I find their app is really handy to have on my phone.
TIP: Mark the days of the Full Moon on your calendar or planner with a circle symbol.

Working With Crystals For The Full Moon
You could wear one of these stones or carry it on you during the day of the Full Moon. You might want to balance the energy with a grounding crystal. If you find that the Full Moon makes you feel overly emotional or argumentative then you don’t need more moon energy from these crystals.
You can also use crystals for the Full Moon phase in any meditations, visualisations, ceremonies, rituals or spiritual work you are doing at this time.

6 Crystals For The Full Moon
The following crystals will work well on any Full Moon regardless of which sign it occurs in. I chose these crystals because they all carry the general energy of the Moon. They are all activated by the Full Moon phase.

SELENITE
This magical crystal is also known as Satin Spar. Selenite takes its name from Selene, the Greek Goddess of the Moon. This crystal anchors lunar energy and even looks like crystallised moonlight.
Selenite is deeply cleansing, fills your aura with light and raises your vibration. Watch my quick YouTube video demo below to see how you can cleanse your aura with Selenite in less than two minutes!

MOONSTONE
It may come as no surprise to you that Moonstone is the most well known and traditional stone of the Moon. This stone comes in a variety of different colours but the white, cream and peach varieties are best for the Full Moon phase. It has a slightly pearlescent tone but no iridescent colours (see Rainbow Moonstone below).
Moonstone anchors lunar energy, balances your emotions and helps you tap into your intuition and feminine power. It also stimulates dreaming and accessing the subconscious mind.

RAINBOW MOONSTONE
Beautiful Rainbow Moonstone is also known as White Labradorite. It can be white or clear and has an iridescent sheen with rainbow colours like blue and green. Some stones have black patches and spots on them. This crystal is high vibration and less earthy than traditional Moonstone.
Work with Rainbow Moonstone to anchor lunar energy and enhance your dreams. Rainbow Moonstone helps you in developing your psychic abilities, especially clairvoyance.

SNOW QUARTZ
This form of Quartz is also known as Milky Quartz. It is really any white, milky looking or creamy coloured Quartz. I see it a lot here in England, as pebbles along rivers or the beach and even as stones in peoples driveways.
Snow Quartz has a soft, soothing and peaceful energy. It is very calming and carries lunar energy.

CANDLE QUARTZ
Candle Quartz is sometimes known as Pineapple Quartz. This is a formation of Snow Quartz that grows into crystal points with a ‘melted wax’ appearance, caused by the merging of multiple crystal points around the central crystal.
Candle Quartz has a peaceful healing lunar energy. It enhances meditation and brings tranquillity.

GIRASOL
This crystal is not so well known, it is also known as Girasol Quartz or Moon Quartz. This is a form of clear to milky Quartz with a misty interior that is caused by traces of Aluminium. There are also pink stones.
Spheres and tumble stones have a white glow around the edges when exposed to natural light. Work with Girasol to access higher states of consciousness and for personal transformation.

Love, love, love your blogs and all that you write!
Thanks for the great feedback, Mary!
Thank you so much, I love reading your posts, they are always so consice and full of useful information.
Hello Ethan, I have read Moonstone is White or clear Labradorite ( Feldspar) and Moonstone is a created marketing name, so wondering what then is the connection to the moon?
Hi, both common Moonstone and Rainbow Moonstone (White/Clear Labradorite) are both Feldspar minerals. Mineralogy does not use the term ‘Moonstone’, but it is the name used by most people, jewellery and in crystal healing. Mineralogy does not even accept the name Amethyst, it’s just purple Quartz to them and they consider it a trade name. All names are made up and given to stones at some point, the different name ‘Rainbow Moonstone’ is used to separate the two different looking stones. Both stones carry lunar energy and in different ways to me.
LOVE this article. I was gifted a long moonstones necklace when I was a preteen from a tribesman in Ghana, W Africa where our family was living as American missionaries. I didn’t understand the true worth until decades later. Question: can I cleanse and charge this necklace on my selenite bar (the bar is very long and flat)?
Many thanks to you
You could do. I do not personally teach that Selenite or any stone is self-cleansing.
Thank you kindly for your reply. Someone had told me that with my selenite rod I could just place any other stone I wanted to clear and charge and it would do the job. Maybe I am wrong. Thank you again.
Yes, some people do this. I am not saying that Selenite can’t be used to cleanse other crystals. I don’t use this method because I believe that the Selenite needs to be cleansed itself too. I will be covering the controversial topic of self-cleansing crystals in my next blog post.
Hello
Hope your well
For the full moon crystal, is there more the one of the same crystals that I should be using and how many of each? For full moon eclipse in Sagittarius this month.
Thank you
Hi, these are all suitable crystals for all full moons, regardless of the sign. You don’t need more than one or to combine unless you feel you do.
Thank you so much for your reply
Great help
Lovely day
