Let’s get real about this, obstacles are always going to pop up in our lives. It’s common to experience them when you are trying to reach a goal or manifest something. You could see these more as tests or ‘challenges’.
You may know that as a blogger, I have experienced challenges in recent years. Despite this, it was a lovely surprise to find my blog chosen as No.2 in the list of top UK Healing Blogs by Feedspot.
Once you get through them, you will have learnt something. Perhaps how not to do something, who you can trust or a better way to reach your destination. Many people give up when there is a way around the obstacle if they had stuck it out a bit longer. Think about:
Is a change in perspective needed to see a way through?
Do you need more self-belief or faith in your ability or destiny?
Do you just need to lock in to your determination?
Crystals For Overcoming Obstacles
Yes, there are crystals for overcoming obstacles that can help with all these things. These are some of the best crystals I have used to overcome obstacles in my life. They will support you in different ways, so see which one fits your needs and situation.
TIP: Remember your mindset and how you let challenges affect you can make or break your ability to get through things. Crystals can help, but you need to be proactive; they cant do things for you, especially if these obstacles contain lessons that you need to learn.
1. MAHOGANY OBSIDIAN
Hardly anyone mentions this stone, but I am always recommending it in my books. This was one of the first crystals for overcoming obstacles that I worked with.
Mahogany Obsidian helps you tap into the grit and determination you sometimes need to overcome stubborn blocks and obstacles. This helps you clear the way and open your path.
2. PHANTOM QUARTZ
Any phantom quartz crystal can be helpful, but multi-phantoms are my first choice if available. Phantoms form inside crystals during a pause, then they continue to grow, leaving a 3D form of the old crystal.
Phantom Quartz crystals bring support during a ‘holding pattern’. They tap into your higher self’s wisdom to overcome obstacles if needed for your personal growth.
3. TOURMALINATED QUARTZ
These crystals are usually clear or white quartz with thin Black Tourmaline crystals embedded within them. There’s something very purifying about these crystals.
They help cleanse negative energy around an obstacle or around you when you are facing tough challenges. It works well with the energy of the New Moon for releasing blocks or starting over.
4. TIGER’S IRON
This is a combination stone that sometimes gets confused with Tiger’s Eye. It contains layers of Tiger’s Eye, Hematite and Red Jasper. Tiger’s Iron supports you in finding the warrior within. It enhances your determination to overcome obstacles. This stone digs deep to help you access the willpower, energy and resilience needed to reach your desired reality.
5. CHAROITE
Charoite is not that easy to get hold of, but still one of my top crystals for overcoming obstacles. This violet crystal helps you work on the inner obstacles. Sometimes obstacles manifest because of energy blocks or beliefs you carry.
This crystal helps you release limiting beliefs and transform your circumstances. This is also one of those stones that helps release karma.
6. ARAGONITE CLUSTER
Although any red, orange or brown form of Aragonite could be used, the Starburts Clusters are the best in my opinion. The energy of these clusters emanates in all directions, clearing stuck energy.
Aragonite is a road opener, it helps you bust blocks and remove obstacles. This crystal gives you the motivation to persist and face fears when you can’t yet see a way through. Great crystal for crystal grids to overcome obstacles.
7. PRESELI BLUESTONE
This is another stone you may have seen me talk about a lot in recent years. Preseli Bluestone is a form of Spotted Dolerite from Wales, here in Britain.
This stone will help you when you need more patience to get you through a challenge. This crystal teaches you about divine timing, something you may need to overcome obstacles and blocks in your life.

Yes! Finally, Charoite gets a mention. A fantastic crystal with multiple layers of abilities, from inner blockage clearing to enhancing psychic/telepathic powers to assisting with pain (trust me on this one), Charoite – found in only one provenance, in Siberia, hence it’s trickier to obtain now – is a crystal I adore, and one I’ve sometimes wondered if you’d feature.
Others I find useful for blocks:
Peridot: repels negative energy and draws in positive.
Black Obsidian: for the the kind of in-depth inner work which is sometimes needed to clear karmic debts, cut unwanted ties etc which might cause blocks.
Carnelian: Fire energy prompts bold and forward-looking action when needed, while Earth energy keeps one grounded. Alternatively, Mookaite Chalcedony (it isn’t really a Jasper) has similar properties.
Then of course there are the more specific ones, for example Citrine to help dissolve monetary blocks, Black Tourmaline to help rid us of blocks perhaps caused by someone else’s envy and negativity, and Magnetite which is remarkable at clearing and realigning blocked chakras.

I got a couple of tiny tumbled pieces (less than 10mm) about 3 years ago now, but in Feb 2024 I was lucky to find my local (now online only) crystal shop still had a lovely freeform in stock (I’d known about it six months earlier but lacked the funds to bring it home). Basically, it looks like a lok like a candle without a wick, with one end at a slant, whose dimensions are:
45mm (longest side) x 35mm (shortest side) x 25mm (diameter).
It wasn’t what I’d call especially cheap, but hey, if it hung around waiting for six months, until I did come into some money …
